Floods (like those from heavy rains) are one of many events that can cause water damage, but is one of the few causes that are often NOT covered by homeowners insurance (source). Covered causes or perils commonly include overflowing toilets and sinks, burst pipes, sump pump failures, water-heater leaks etc.

Insurance companies often prefer you to call a contractor first, because it's important to get the mitigation (clean-up) started immediately. Because of our partnership with public adjusters, calling us serves two purposes: we'll get the water cleaned up and we'll get the insurance process started.
